Favorite Novels and Works of Nonfiction

Here is a list of some of my favorite novels, book-length nonfiction works, and short stories. These are books that have stayed with me, haunted me, significantly influenced my thinking. Each one is an outstanding read. The list is by no means comprehensive. It’s a taste-testing. I imagine that you will find some old friends here and a few new things that will fascinate you. I will post separate lists of favorite poems and films at another time. I’m sure that there are works important to me that I’ve left off this list.
